Steve Pulaski from called the film a “landmark in porn…that could very well be considered an early American, feature-length porn film focusing on a fetish, in this case, mother/son incest”. He also noted that “Taboo” was written by a woman and in its core, the film is about how women are treated in our society: “The film, at its core, shows how a woman is rejected from everything, society, employers, and even her husband for allegedly not being good enough, and the first time she finally does something she wants, she’s overcome with guilt and shame. Who would’ve thought a pornographic film would ever go this deep (metaphorically speaking)?”
There is a series called “Half His Age”, featured as a teenage tragedy film. One look at the trailer and you can see it’s a whole lot more about a high school gym teacher and his affliction, and joy, at being involved with one of his sexy 18-year-old students. The series is directed by AVN and XBIZ award-winning producer Bree Mills and explores the relationship of the teach and his student, and all that comes with it. Namely her rich and powerful parents. There are tons of succulent blowjobs and older man fucking a schoolgirl porn to feast your eyes on. It was easy to immerse myself into this taboo world.
I have to give Taboo the full score on nudity, given that it is an adult film with copious amounts of hardcore sexual content. A good variety of sexual happenings is on showcase, with one on one, threesomes, a wild orgy, and yes, incest all on screen. The orgy scene is pretty outlandish and gonzo, with a large group of folks doing all manner of things. There’s an oral centipede circle with like twenty people that stands out as a highlight, but that sequence is loaded with sexual hijinks. And wow, what a bunch of wild looking people they brought in for it, quite a spectacle indeed. No blood or violence, besides some rather “pushy” men. The dialogue is played straight and that is music to our ears, as some real cringe stuff is performed. Parker has a nice collection of memorable lines especially, so some nice quotes in this one. I mean, sex between family members and a wacky orgy are pretty nuts, even for porn. So not a total off the rails experience, but Taboo pushes the boundaries for sure.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s ensemble-driven film offers a comic—and at times dark—look at the heyday of the American porn industry in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Its infamous for its final scene (featuring Mark Wahlberg’s prosthetic penis), but it also nails the sleazy style of the era.
